The current organ Cavaillé-Coll is a unique treasure as well by its invoice as by the wish of donors :
« May it remain in the basilica like an ex-voto of their filial devotion, and the permanent voice of the power and kindness of the Virgin of Lille »
However, the successive enlargement of the building
made the choir organ of origin
increasingly just to fill up the nave .
On the basis of these facts, André DUBOIS proposes, instead of building a new instrument, to extend the current organ with the following characteristics :
The instrument will preserve its console of origin and will remain playable such as today. The new console of 4 keyboards will take over on one of its keyboards (the Récit) the stops of the Cavaillé-Coll instrument.
Thus it will be possible to play the new organ, another organist using the Cavaillé-coll like choir organ. |
